After a two year gap, Iain Archer's follow-up to Playing Dead strips the acoustic arrangements even barer. Whilst Crazy Bird may at first appear a less obviously satisfying album than its predecessor, there is great depth and beauty in the songwriting and the musicianship remains as sharp as ever. The title track and "Moon On Tuesday" stand out as exceptional, while the rest of the album moves effortlessly between gentle love ballads and exuberant instrumental pieces.
