Iain's first solo album, on the Scotland based Sticky Music label, is quite simply stunning. From the opening track, the infuriatingly memorable "Wishing", to the spine-tingling "Papa Burns" which closes the set, there is hardly a weak moment among countless great ones. Deftly accompanied by members of stablemates Lies Damned Lies, Iain's exceptional songwriting is given life by his soulful singing and virtuosic acoustic guitar technique. Inviting comparison with the works of James Taylor or John Martyn, you won't hear many better debuts than this.
